Turnaround in Heraklion/Greece  (Heraklion, 07.05.2004)

.jpg (82478 Byte) Shortly before sunset, we arrived at Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete. We are in a good neighbourhood: Whole europe seems to be here! The finnish came here with this B757-200 of Air FInland, and some other German tourists chose Thomas Cook/Condor's Airbus A320 to get here.
.jpg (85281 Byte) Even Luxembourg, represented by a B737-700 (with nice winglets) from Luxair.
.jpg (68733 Byte) Nice view onto the small island of Dhia in front of Heraklion airport. And some of the Greek Air Force bunkers (the reason why I was not eager enough to get pictures outside of the plane, as the Greek military police *really* does not like taking pictures on the tarmac).
.jpg (65104 Byte) The baggage of our inbound guests is unloaded, and brought to the terminal.
.jpg (65287 Byte) The fins are taxying to the takeoff position...
.jpg (70709 Byte) ...followed by an Aegean B737. This airline does mainly "island hopping" on the greek islands with their DeHavilland Dash 8 aircraft, and flies tourists between central europe and the greek holiday destinations.
.jpg (64009 Byte) The next bunch of germans rolls in onboard of this B757-300 (the "long prick" - it's soooo long).
.jpg (73772 Byte) In the meanwhile, a TUI Belgium/Jetair B737-800 has taken the place of the Air Finland B757.
.jpg (132228 Byte) Baggage cart in greek terms...
.jpg (77979 Byte) And then I finally had the guts to take some pictures outside.
.jpg (89836 Byte) Our famous "Lima Hotel" (the one with all the people's stickers on the outside).
.jpg (87573 Byte) A quick look into the galley.
.jpg (132863 Byte) Very good: All the food is already there. Now we hope that some passengers are missing and we will get a real hot meal!
.jpg (48653 Byte) The uneventful view outside through the "peep window" of one of the main exits.
.jpg (147036 Byte) Our cabin, seen from the front entrance.
.jpg (63556 Byte) Our colleagues from another german airport are taxying in, giving us a short "salut" by blinking the landing lights.
.jpg (74844 Byte) And as soon as they have taxied by, we are ready for taxy.
.jpg (67544 Byte) There she goes... And if we expedite, we get a second sunset after takeoff!
