Turnaround in
Heraklion/Greece (Heraklion, 07.05.2004) |
 |
Shortly before sunset, we
arrived at Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete. We are in a good neighbourhood: Whole
europe seems to be here! The finnish came here with this B757-200 of Air FInland, and some
other German tourists chose Thomas Cook/Condor's Airbus A320 to get here. |
 |
Even Luxembourg, represented
by a B737-700 (with nice winglets) from Luxair. |
 |
Nice view onto the small
island of Dhia in front of Heraklion airport. And some of the Greek Air Force bunkers (the
reason why I was not eager enough to get pictures outside of the plane, as the Greek
military police *really* does not like taking pictures on the tarmac). |
 |
The baggage of our inbound
guests is unloaded, and brought to the terminal. |
 |
The fins are taxying to the
takeoff position... |
 |
...followed by an Aegean B737.
This airline does mainly "island hopping" on the greek islands with their
DeHavilland Dash 8 aircraft, and flies tourists between central europe and the greek
holiday destinations. |
 |
The next bunch of germans
rolls in onboard of this B757-300 (the "long prick" - it's soooo long). |
 |
In the meanwhile, a TUI
Belgium/Jetair B737-800 has taken the place of the Air Finland B757. |
 |
Baggage cart in greek terms... |
 |
And then I finally had the
guts to take some pictures outside. |
 |
Our famous "Lima
Hotel" (the one with all the people's stickers on the outside). |
 |
A quick look into the galley. |
 |
Very good: All the food is
already there. Now we hope that some passengers are missing and we will get a real hot
meal! |
 |
The uneventful view outside
through the "peep window" of one of the main exits. |
 |
Our cabin, seen from the front
entrance. |
 |
Our colleagues from another
german airport are taxying in, giving us a short "salut" by blinking the landing
lights. |
 |
And as soon as they have
taxied by, we are ready for taxy. |
 |
There she goes... And if we
expedite, we get a second sunset after takeoff! |
