A310 Gran Canaria/Las Palmas (GCLP), Turnaround on a sunny day / D-AHLX / 16.02.2005
After our AOG (aircraft on ground) problem last week with the same crew, on the same route Nuernberg (EDDN) - GranCanaria/Las Palmas (GCLP) - Nuernberg (EDDN), we were producing many sarcastic jokes before we boarded the aircraft in the morning. But all went right, and how Gran Canaria may look like when the weather is good (as compared to the bad weather impressions found here), I'd like to show you here. After docking at Las Palmas. One of the few airports where you can directly see if you have hit the yellow line exactly when you parked the aircraft - thanks to the glass windows on the terminal. :-) A little bit more light into our office gives a different impression. Check out this weather. That's what I would be looking for when I went to the Canary Islands! Outside check on out fat bus. A majestic view: our tail section. Even with the cabin attendant posing, you won't be able to get an impression of our empennage... ...with the tip of the vertical stabilizer nearly 16 meters above ground! And soon the turnaround is over, and we are airborne again, heading towards ADUBI point on FL340. A brilliant view of the Strait of Gibraltar (view to the east, towards the Mediterranean Sea). The Moroccanian tip on the righthand side, and the Spanish Tip on the lefthand side, and the city of Gibraltar top left. A detailed view of Gibraltar, with the distinctive mountain top right, and the airport directly left of the mountain. A view "over the shoulder" The Sierra Nevada in southern Spain,... ... famous for skiing inthe wintertime (as you can see).
